FUEL TANK vacuum

Hi, I have a '93 240 and my fuel tank vacuum (the one that goes to the carbon canister) is purging a lot of fuel into the carbon canister... I changed my gas cap and the little fuel check valve(outside of the tank)and it continues to bug and have an irregular idle...Could it be my FUEL PUMP? ***And can I take off the fuel check valve and leave the fuel tank without any rubber hose on that vacuum???***ANY POSSIBLE INPUT WILL BE VERY APPRECIATED cuz I'm loosing fuel on the ground and the fckn fuel is PRICEY !!!!!!!!

You can just seal the line going to the carbon canister until you figure it out.
