I just swapped my fuel tank, pulled a tank out of a base model s14 zenki, going into a zenki SE with abs/automatic. now my problem is the plug that connects to the floater thing from the new tank has 4 pins, a 4 pin plug. and the car itself has a 3 pin plug.

as you can see, 3 of the 4 wires match up. what im wondering is if i wire in the 3 that match, will whatever the floater thing does still work? like my gas gauge, etc? the fuel pump plugs are the same. so i know ill have power there.

also will i have any problems if that plug isnt plugged up? or if i just match up the wires and use the 3 pinned plug on the chassis harness and leave the 4th wire loose?

So red has to be power, black ground, so whatever the floater thing does it has power and ground, or* the red, yellow and green are signal wires? and the black is the ground? im thinking the yellow wire is just an extra signal, wire that my zenki doesn't have?

does that sound right at all? wiring is NOT my strong point, nor do i know what im talking about. just speculating

ok, after a bit of research, i realized the tank i got was from an obd 2 s14. obd1 s14s have the 3 pinned plug and obd2s have the 4 pinned plug.

now my question is can i drop the wire that doesn't match up, and my fuel gauge still work with the obd2 fuel level sender unit?
