I am a newbie. I just bought this Gold Q45 from a guy across town who kept excellent service records and maintained the car religiously. He was out one day and the fuel pump went bad on him. So in the middle of the parking lot at a Pep boys or something, he swapped out the fuel pump. When he did he must have damaged the float assembly as the fuel gauge doesn't work. I just took the fuel pump out today and the float was hanging by it's ground wire. A rusted ground wire I might add, which broke in half.

Do any of you know where I can purchase the fuel float assembly? It is nothing more than a plastic attachment. You do NOT get this when you buy a fuel pump apparently.

Thanks for any info as I have searched all over the internet with no luck.

Well, if he didn't install an OEM fule pump, I would consider getting a new one from http://www.everythinginfiniti.com (aka Joe - you'll see ).

Might call them and see if the float is available separately. Then get over to Infiniti Mechanic Forum and read Tangalora's excellent Fuel Pump Replacement post to see what he did wrong.

And even before that, you must read the Timing Chain guide post in the Infiniti Articles Forum.

You have to replace the sending unit seperately...

pull the fuel pump, get the new sending unit (includes the gauge and the pump frame) install your other pump, and be sure not to bend it!!! BE SURE TO REPLACE YOUR O ring!!!

Good luck!
