fuel tank confusion

i bought a new fuel pump. i was about to install it believing i could accessthe assembly beneath the back seat. but i looked and realized that i have to drop the tank to change the pump....from the research i had done i was under the impression that removing the tank wasnt necessary.... its an s13 hatch....anyone wana let me know whats going on

i think s14 is back seat, s13 is in the trunk, just pull back the carpet.

i did and all i found was a two wires going through the floor pan( black and red) i looked on alldata and a couple other places for the procedure under the 1993 240sx. so thats why im confused

in the trunk immediately to the right of the spare tire is a grey plate with a wire coming out of it, it's held on by like 4 bolts. remove that plate, then you'll see the top of the fuel tank and a round cover with a bunch of bolts, remove those, and pull it out, fuel pump is attached to it.
