Fuel Tank Capactiy Question

I have had my A/C for almost a month now. I have noticed that when i fill up my tank after getting the low fuel warning it only fills up 15 gl. I thought A/C has 20 gl fuel capacity. So why does the fuel pump always stop at around 15 gl only. Where is the other 5 gl going?

Maybe because when you get the low fuel warning light you still have 5 gallons left which i think is typical for all vehicles. It won't be very smart to have a light that turns on to let you know when you're actually out of fuel, it'll be a little too late by then i would think.

the AC coupe 3.5 and 2.5 have a 16.7 gallon capacity, and even when the light comes on, most vehciles will have in the ranges of 1/10th of a tank left.1.6 gallons / fill it to 15 seems about right.

That makes sense, i dont know why the specs are list for 20 gl tank.

Because america specs are US Gallons / 3.78 liters vs the Imperial Gallon which is what i belive the gas stations use.

Actually, the gas tank does have a 20 gallon capacity. It can be verified by this receipt seen here:

The rest of the people that have the same vehicle are skeptical on the numbers he's getting. I know it's a 20 Gallon tank US way(16.7IMP)=20 gallons. i'am just saying the pump he goes to states it differently using imperial way. Which is why he fills it up at 15 gallons, when his light comes on. Which seems very accuracte as to what the others on that forums are getting. I've driven my M near empty to the point where my screen said 0/all 4 stars gone kilometers left and still drove 15 kilometers home, and didn't get over 20 gallons.( same fuel tank capacity as Coupe) I could be wrong though

I drive a long way after my light comes on. In fact, I drive until my needle is way below the E line. I usually fill up about 18.5 gallons per petrol stop. I have the 3.5 and always get over 400 miles per fill up.

That's great. Here in LA traffic, I barely get 22mpg with the 2.5. Glad I didn't get the 3.5 because then, I would be leaving the petrol stations. Then again, my old Volvo with dead sensors was getting 15mpg so 22 is a big step up.

All nissans I have owned light comes on at 1/4 tank (real) not indicated, '03 350z 20 gal light on at 15 or 5 gal left'05 Titan 28 gal, light on at 21 or 7 gal left'08 A/C 20 gal, light on at 15 or 5 gal left

you can go quite a while yet on an empty light, I think the idea is that as you deplete the fuel, the sendiment and other impurities will have a much more likely chance of getting into the fuel system in higher quantities and can greatly depreciate fuel filter life, amongst other nasties...thus replenishing at 1/4 tank keeps the hevier sediment in the tank and not into your engine

yea I have had my 3.5 since september, first one bought in fl ive found, and i get about 18-20 gallons everytime i fill up depending on how empty my tank is, so i dk what to tell you guys

i just put 17 gallons in my 3.5SE A/C when i had a little under 1/4 tank (the light just turned on)

you know what now that i think about it, it might have been 16 gallons lol i had a long day and i just remember the guy saying it should fill up at like 15.5 and i remember going past it to either 16 or 17..... pretty sure it was 17 but not 100% sure.... i put like $60 and it was $3.55 a gallon so that would make 17.... i dunno, next time ill get a receipt and double check
