hi , yesterday i went and did a lil drifting on my favorite back road , but sometime thoruhgout the last week the county guys put fresh gravel down and they were like nickel sized stones...well anyways , wen i got back to the house and park the car i checked under the hood and it was alright..and then i started it back up and went downtown and i can smell gas very strongly in the cockpit , i mean VERY strongly...idk what the problem is...maybe i puntured a gas line of some sort..im gonna have the shop take a look at it in the AM but for now..any suggestions? and are the injected supposed to be able to rotate in the holes when i turn them?

thanks alot

Garrett , NY

deja Vu?

did this happened when u also hit a metal brake line?

----------

is this puncture metal or rubber line?

rubber? then get "fuel injection" hose & fuel injection hose clamps (more expensive but worth it). don't get those regular fuel hose that's obviously cheap & will swell when excessive pressure is reached... no worm clamps that'll cut into the hoses...

a str8-forward common-cents fix... just don't have someone smoking a cig while working on your car if u r not doing this yourself!

well, that aint' good... should B a metal line under thurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

not hard to get steel metal lines from the same NAPA store u got your other lines from.... a tube cutter & bender can b "rented" from autozone or a local parts slinger (usually fo free as well)....

& just buy enuff hose/clamps from the firewall area to your fuel filter.

fuel filter replacements are cheap and easy. all you do it pick up the filter $6-20$ depending. and then you just loosen the clamp and vice grip the hose unless you want gas all over and then slip it out and then reinsert after you re run the new line. you might want a catch can on the floor below incase you get fuel runoff cause you most likely will.

Nick, u missed his post:

previous owner ran fuel hose all the way from the filter to the tank!

not really safe...

i'd go back to OEM specs of

filter--hose--metal line--hose--tank or something like that

whats the disadvantages of running just hose from the filter to the tank...it has the stock stuff from the filter to where it broke and now its rubber on the underside of the car all the way back to the tank...and whats the part number , from like walmart for the fuel filter or where should i get the filter

well, as you already experienced, 1st hand risk of punctures under thurr...

plus dry-rot just because that expensive fuel injection hose is waay higher than just getting some steel lines running under the carriage... unless you're going to spend $$$$$$$$$$$ on some stainless-steel-braided-kevlar-lined-bling-bling-ching-ching-shamalamadingdong-silicone hose that won't degrade over time

filter: purlolator/wix/napa/ are decent brands... heck walmart's fram filter is ok too i guess
