I had a service engine soon light come on and a very erratic gas gauge on an 08 versa, I used a code reader and got a code for a fuel sensor. Does anyone know where the fuel sensor is, is it in the gas tank? Is it easy to achange yourself or must I take it in to a dealer. Has anyone had this replaced by a dealer and what was the cost.

Nissan has had issues with their fuel level sensors not indicating accurate fuel levels in the tank. Get a repair manual (Chilton or Haynes) to see for yourself if you have to means to replace the sensor. It is in the gas tank as part of the float mechanism. A dealer will charge 5X the cost of the sensor itself do do the job for you.
