Is it possible for the fuel sensor to be affected by the cold weather?

A few months ago, my dealership had to replace my pump assembly. The problem was exactly what is described in this earlier thread:

zerothread/355803

The same thing happened tonight. Gas gauge to zero bars, DTE blinking, gas light on. Drove to friend's house for dinner. Came home, same deal. BUT I needed to move my car a few minutes later. I cranked it up and everything was fine. That was about an hour ago. Right before I posted this, I cranked it again. All is still fine. 3/4 tank of gas (as it should be).

So, can the cold have anything to do with this? Should I call the dealership tomorrow, even if everything still appears fine? Should I wait and only call if it does it again?

Thanks much for any input!

I kind of doubt your gas sensor is being affected by MS cold weather. I'm sitting here at about 0 degrees and not having a problem. I think the dealership is going to have to look at it again for you. Good luck.

We've been below -22F many times since I bought my Rogue, and no problems like that at all.

Cold weather should not cause any problems like this.

It's always a bit of a touch decision when to take a vehicle in for service when you've got an intermittent problem, because often the problem may not occur when at the shop.

It doesn't sound like anything to panic about but I'd say you definately need to book an appointment at some point, especially if it continues to occur, even if infrequently. Good luck, I'm sure the dealer will track down the problem for you.

Thanks everyone. I've contacted the dealership for an appointment. I wanted to get the CVT update anyway (especially since I read a thread about how helpful it was even if you weren't having any issues).

I am asking them to check the fuel pump sensor as well.
