:?:?:?: Fuel sending unit missing somthing?

So im trying to assemble my fuel pump / sending unit since mine was stolen. So My question is what goes on the inside of the sending unit where on the outside there is the vent? and the return? it looks like there should be a hose of some sort on the inside of the tank? Its been a long day so im sure about 50% of this does not make sense but help would be much appreciated.
