fuel temp sensor circuit?

changed the injector cuz it was done. went to start it n it wouldnt start jus made a tick noise after it turned over. maybe run for a split second. in the middle of changing injector harness n decided to check the ecu it brought up code 42 which is fuel temp sensor circuit. would that really cause it not to run? read a forum n said it makes it sluggish n drops perfromance an gas mileage n thats wat was happening before i changed the injector also. but could this b the reason its not running? sumone also said it maybe hydro lock in the cylinder i replaced the injector

fuel temp makes the car run a bit rich, more noticable after warmed up, but it won't keep the car form starting

well my stepdad forgot to tell me that he shorted the wire to the injector which possibly fried the ecu cuz it was a big spark. i really want sumone that knows bout nissans to come work on it cuz its got me puzzled. ill pay u for it too. im needing it fixed by wednesday so i can go to college cuz im driven a hr n a half to evansville three times a week for college n yea i need to b there. can ne one help? plz

Sparks aint good. Your supposed to unplug the battery while doing anything with injectors. You could have messed something up internally with the ECU. Check ECU for codes as evil said.

well i jus pulled the ecu n it looks fine. the plugs r still not sparking. thinkn maybe the ptu. could sumone show me a n/a motor cuz i got a plug on the passenger side thats not plugged in. its a male wit three things in it.

It looks fine... LOL its a computer board, how can you tell if the circuits are fried internaly? Do you have the old PTU or the newer one? That sounds like a 02 sensor, or I think the knock sensor uses a 3 pin too.

starting over...
step 1 check the ecu for codes (looks like we've already covered this part)
step 2 verify the car runs on all 6 cylinders, with the car running unplug each cop one at a time, the idel shoudl drop or the eigne shoudl die, if you unplug a cop and it makes no change in the idle you have a dead cylinderext we figure out why. first we switch a known good cop and plug with the dead cylinder and see fi the problem moves
step 3 ohm the injectors, should be aroudn 12-14 ohms, significantly higher lower or open is a bad injector
step 4 if the injectors test good and rotating cop's does not move the problem the ptu is suspect

well my buddy that graduated from wyotech said if it has ne blackness in it then it shorted in the ecu so yea. n i would do all those steps but its not startn. im trying to get it to start first. not trying to b a smart a**

going to wyotech doesn't mean anything, there are lots of certfied tech's out there that can't diagnose to save their lives, and I'd be suprised to find out wyotech offered any fuel injection training but maybe they do?

anyhow, you car won't start right? so you tuen the key, the engine turns and turns but won't fire over right?

verify that you have fuel pressure, take the fuel line loose fomr the fuel filter and put it in a backet, rotate the key to the on position, it shoudl start pumping fuel, if not you have a fuel issue


verify spark, take the cop's and plugs out, assymble them and lay them on the plenum, pull the cas out and rotate it by hand (with the key on) you shoudl see all 6 spark one at a time, if not then you have a spark issue, let us know what you find

yea it wont fire. still cant get the plugs on the back to come together. its goin in the shop today its to hot to work on it. bad thing is this whole county is mostly rednecks hopefully they can fix a import. he fixed the rear main seal pretty well. shouldve known when i guy was trading a 300 for a beat up 94 golf that i shouldve thought bout it a lil more

so using the above test you foudn no spark correct? most likley candidate si the ptu, if you have a logic probe or similar you can test for the square wave signal comong out fo the cas and intot he ptu, chances are it's one of them, but it might also be the ecu or a wiring issue, gotta test to find out

yea i havent tried yet. its been a lil hot n i got burned out on the river sunday lol but the plug thats left is the o2 sensor plug n it wont plug into the other one cuz it wont reach for sum reason but i dnt think that would cause it not to spark tho.

O2 sensor will nto prevent spark, and if the wire won't reach, you likley crossed some wires, recheck your connections the vtc or some other connector back there is the same as the )2 and can get crossed

yea the ecu isnt even flashing the red light. sumone said it could be the flywheel or the starting motor for the noise it was making. it was a tick n then the motor would shake. but still would start.

VTC =Variable Timing Control, there si a little soleniod on the back of the intake cams, their plugs are the same as the O2 IIRC

well i looked n it was the driver side o2 sensor for sure. i let the shop take it n look it over its got me stumped n i dnt have a garage n yea its hard to do alot in 100 degree weather
