I have a s14sr20 in my 93 240sx and recently replaced the head gasket. Upon trying to start the car again, I noticed the walbro pump didn't whir like it normally does when it primes, low and behold there is no fuel on any injector after several cranks.

When I took the head off i unplugged the main engine harness so i think it had something to do with that.

The car was running last time i had it on, just had a blown HG.

What could be causing the pump to not run? It only has 6K miles on it maybe.

thanks for reading

PS I did check the fuse and its good, I also did some relay swapping and unless 2 relays went out, they are ok or not the only problem...

hmm, perhaps bad fuel pump? my 240sx is notorious for having multiple crap going wrong at the same time. It's just a coincidence that it goes out as you blow the HG. I really can't think of anything else :/

there is a ground wire that is supposed to be grounded to the intake mani or valve cover. it is the common ground for your fuel stuff. is it grounded? i would go inch by inch and check the harness for grounds not connected or damage maybe from the install?

Pulled off the valve cover to check the CAS alignment and it was off, now I either have an injector that leaks without fuel pressure or the pump is back running, it doesn't sound like it used to though.

However, still wont start. It sounds like it fires once but never more then that. I am going to check my grounds again like you said.

Disregard last post, cranked it and checked the other spark plugs for fuel and 1, 2 and 3 were bone dry. Also did a compression check and got 160psi on all, over 4 cranks, no throttle (engine was cold) so i think i got the gasket to seal.

Last night I had the fuel pump pulled out and checked the 2 wires in the tank for power when cranking with a voltmeter and got like 9-10 volts.

Is there a way to check if the fuel pump is good using a multimeter? Should i just check for resistance over the 2 wires on the pump?

could try spraying starter fluid in the intake and see if she fires.
i think testing fuel pressure would be a better test for the pump, not sure where you would find a resistance spec for that pump. also just cause you have volts at the pump doesn't mean you have the current to run it. hook a headlight to the fuel pump power and ground at the pump and see if it shines bright when you turn the key on.

there is fuel pressure in the line after the fuel filter, pump still sounds weird. no starting though...

edit: I can get it to half start on one cylinder, but the conditions that it does this under make me think its actually #4 injector leaking. This also means there is pressure in the rail, I no longer think the fuel pump is bad resistance was .7 ohms Nissan fuel pump spec says around .5 ohms.

Right now it seems the only thing holding it back from starting is the injectors not firing, I checked their resistance and its at 11.2 ohms. Spark plugs are still dry after cranking...
