Alright, my fuel pump stoped working because the yellow/black wire is not getting power on the pump. I figure I will just hardwire anyway so I dont get any current loss but my problem is that I cant use the yellow/black wire as a trigger because it gets no signal. Can I just use another switched igniton source from near by to trigger the new fuel pump relay rather than the yellow/black more commonly used.

CLIFFS:

Can i use a switched ignition source (other than the factory black/yellow wire) to power the trigger on the relay for hardwiring a fuel pump.

my guess would be no. the stock configuration allows the fuel pump to be off with the key in the 1st position, prime for a few secs on the ACC position and then turn right back off while the engine isn't running or stay on with the engine running. I don't know of another switched component that works this way.

I guess I could take the Black/Pink wire for the fuel pump and use that to trigger my new relay. I would just have to run it from the front of the car to the fuel pump next to my stereo wiring.

Allthough once the car turns on the fuel pump stays on so as long as I dont hold it in the ACC position I dont think it would be a problem, would it. My car has a tiny battery anyway I never listen to music with the car off it dies quick.

i tried switching the relay and it didnt work. The fuel pumps been working forever and it decided to quit yesterday, i put direct power on it and it starts up so the wiring/relay/something is messed up and Id rather not fix it, well I tried but couldnt do it.

Maybe I should wire a switch to the switched ignition source and I will manually trigger the relay for the fuel pump.

Can't you just run new wire and put a toggle switch in between your battery and pump?Good anti-theft device as well.

alright guys I fixed it. wired in a new relay in teh factory location and it worked. I think I will go ahead and put another relay in the back and hardwire it anyway for more juice while im at it. I guess I will be using the black/yellow for trigger afterall.
