Hey Guys,

Just replaced the fuel pump on my 96 Q. It had been humming pretty loudly, but there wasnt a failure yet.

I'm pretty handy on these things, (I did the valve guides on my 91) but without the writeup on the IOM, It definitely would have taken me longer, and I probably would have broken something before figuring it out. The writeup by tangalora was awesome. From start to finish it took 1.25 hours, and it works great. I can barely hear the pump now.

This is a great site, and if you are thinking of doing the pump, use tangalora's writeup, and you will be fine, even if you dont wrench regularly.

Anyways, just thought I'd update.

I ordered my pump from IOS, via the phone. I havent used them in a couple years, since I bought my valve guide package from them for my 91, and that order went really good too.

I got the pump delivered to my door 4 days later (all the way to Canada), everything fit perfect and no issues.

Even after shipping and exchange rates, I saved $150 from what the dealer wanted to charge me here in town.

I am very satisfied with their service.

Hope to heck you installed the new O ring also!

Replacing valve guides is pretty impressive as you also have to deal with repriming the HLA. Never heard of valve guides failing.

Perhaps you mean timiing chain guides?

Be sure to add the car's model year to your profile.
