am new to the NCIO web site and not sure how to maneuver thru it yet, but it has been a great help to me, and I want to express my sincere thanks to all NCIO members who have contributed their knowledge and experiences.

I have two 94 Q45's. The first one I purchased used in 96 with 19,000 miles on it and have loved it from day one. Recently it was rear-ended and the insurance company totaled it (trunk, rear bumper and bent rear fenders ) although it was still drivable, so I bought it back from them for $200 and purchased another 94 Q45 with 149,000 miles on it and had several problems. My new Q45 was running like crap and could not get out of its own way. After spending $850 for one injector at the local dealer it was only a little better so I turned to the NCIO web sit and did my home work. I followed the excellent instructions on the web site from "tangalora" and everything went great. I was lucky in that the fuel pump controller showed no signs of overheating and looked in great shape, so I didn’t touch it. My new Q now runs great as it should.

I might mention that I am 67 years old and weigh 270 pounds and have an artificial knee which did not make the replacement any easier trying to get my fat a*# in the trunk, however I did it.

I use to build cars for drag racing in the 1950 and 1960's, so it has been a long time, but I am enjoying working on them again. You are never too old to try, especially with the help and encouragement from NCIO members.

The latest was the fuel pump which had to be replaced. I have none a number of repairs on my new Q so far with help from the web site and I have replaced and rebuilt many items.

It started with the hub caps which some jerk had tried to put on with a hammer, so I took the aluminum piece off the plastic and very carefully straightened it with a plastic hammer, then stripped them and polished them and repainted the emblem and finished with several coats of clear coat. The power antenna was next, in that I had two which did not retract fully, the old one had a broken plastic gear in the mast and the other was bent, so I removed the tip end of the bent one and replaced (the shortest section with the plastic gear attached) to the one with the broken gear. Then I thoroughly removed all the old grease and dirt and replaced it with new white lithium grease and put everything back together and it works perfectly. Next was to replace the mass air flow sensor, diagnostic display and controller in the dash, several window and door switches, radiator, water pump, radio, AC controls, remote entry controller and reprogrammed the remotes, and many dash lights. Several items to go and looking forward to all with the help from the NCIO club. I think the Q45 is the best car I have ever owned and look forward to keeping it many more years.

I was not sure how to contact "tangalora" to thank him for his excellent instructions on the fuel pump replacement, so please pass this along to him if you can.

ThanksMark Thompson

Stereotype. Tangalora was a woman. No longer with us but she was one heck of an organized mechanic.

Definitely a woman.

And she is still with us on NICO. Rest in peace, Alora.

Is it confirmed that Alora has passed away? I know she was terminally ill, but every couple months I try searching for an obit or something and come up empty.

She was also very active in a lot of online communities and newsgroups, so I suppose if she was still around, she'd have posted from someplace.

She was awesome.

Heheh, I did the Google search on her, too, Jesda, and was puzzled not to find an obit. What kind of stalker category does that put us in?

No obituary, but no recent activity either.

My last email to her did not bounce, but no reply either.

So sad to read... I hope she got to take that walk....

"Latest News: Due to my illness, Ive grown to learn it is all about people & feelings. I hope to soon go back home to NY for that final walk in the woods where I can lay down, look up, and sleep."
