Hrmm sounds like the same problem i had.. i have a 89 240sx and when the car was idling it would die down then surge back up then one day i was just driving it down the street and the car died and now it wont turn back over i have removed the hose from the fuel filter to the injectors and im getting gas flow from there so i dont think its the fuel pump/filter. if you happen to figure out whats wrong please let me know

you can check the fuel pump by pulling the fuel hose off as draft did. if gas just pours out with the key on, it works. does the stalling issue happen at idle or just low throttle?

draft:your car wont turn over at all? will it jump start?

I feel so stupid my friend told me to check the fuel pump fuse to see if it was blown and that was the problem

but fuses blow for a reason [other than age and cycling]. your fuel pump might be on the way out, causing excessive current draw.

if the fuse blows again, your looking at a wiring/pump problem.

if the problem does not resurface, the fuse was probably bad.

well man as far as i know it just happens at idle... but like when i come off the highway and throw it in neutral, it tends to die on me at low rpms...but lately it hasn't been happening...so....i think it is an on and off thing... and are you suppose to run a thicker gauge wire(10 gauge) to the fuel pump if you install like a walbro pump??....cuz i have a walbro but never messed with with the wiring..

I had the same off-again, on-again idling problem...One day it just died... fuel pump AND fuel sending unit were shot...

check it out and fix it before you get stranded... especially if your area is prone to extreme cold and snowstorms like i experienced last week!

good luck

just dying at idle does not sound characteristic of a fuel pump. that sounds like an idle adjustment, tune up, or funky sensor(coolant temp, maf, tps, etc.)

I had a friend w/ an Altima that would die at low rpms and then would start and idle really rough and then die if you touched the gas pedal. Turned out that his valve cover leaked oil into the distributor. Just an idea....
