Hello everyone,I am new proud owner of 92Q45 with a 72K that I bought in Florida. After spending some money to replace tension strut arm bushings, rear outer tie rods, completely repainting the car at the dealership and some other minor things the car is super and pleasure to drive. The only thing that I noticed and a bit concern about it is the little notice that coming from the back of the car, I assume that this is fuel pump. Do I have to be really concern about it? I heard that some pumps could be a little noisy.

Thanks, Viktor

Try turning the ignition to the "on" position but do not start it. Do you hear the noise when the car is "on" but not running? If so, then that is your fuel pump. You shouldn't be concerned about it if that is all it is. You heard correct, some are noisy. Hopefully somebody more familiar with the Q45 can comment.

Doh! I just noticed this is a double posted thread. Please don't do that in the future.

Don't be concerned until the noisey pump fails, burns the controller up and leaves you stranded on an interstate in a rain storm with dead cellular batteries and cost you $1200 [including tow].

Good idea to change pump every 80-100k [for $500] to avoid hassles. The 97 have a bypass resistor which in theory delays the burnout of the pump controller from a bad pump but we have changed 2 pumps already at less than 130k.

Always have your fuel filter changed every 30k or 2 years to prolong pump life!
