Can the stock ka fpr maintain stock fuel pressure with the walbro 255 high pressure fuel pump? I don't want to run rich at idle. My friends sr20 has that pump and he runs rich at idle. I wondering if this pump flows too much and if the pressure at will be greater than stock.

If your stock regulator is OK, then it should be fine. I have a Walbro 255 and stock fuel rail and regulator, runs 43.5psi w/o vacuum, and not rich.

If the SR runs rich at idle, it's not due to the fuel pump.

This "walbro will make my car run rich" myth needs to die...I'm not beating up on you, but this is a common misconception that has no truth.

I have had the 255 walpro on two different 89 240's, both with stock fpr, and I didn't run rich at anything. and those engines both had 185k and 190k on them, respectively. trust me it'll be fine.

Yes it can, as long as the stock reg is ok as orion said.

is it safe to take out the vacuum hose on the fpr? will that cause the pump to fail because of the high pressure?

Nope. Actually that's how u test and setup some stuff when working on your car.

I think I'm not quite following u here. If you remove the vaccum line from the FPR (which I'm thinking you mean to disconnect it from the vaccum source) then the fuel pressure will (should) remain at around 43PSI constantly, doesn't matter the press conditions of the manifold.

So I don't get it how you would "take out the vacuum hose if i want to raise the fuel pressure instead of buyin a new fpr".

You would raise fuel pressure at idle, but you would actually lower it under boost since the stock fpr is 1:1 meaning that for each PSI of boost it will add 1 PSI of fuel pressure.

Maybe I just don't get it. :rolleyes
