I bought a fuel pump last week from a NICO member. My friends step-dad, whose a mechanic, is suppose to install it for me, for free. He's been busy though and will probably help me this week. Last night when i was drving the it felt like i was driving a 4 banger instead of a V8, even under WOT. My question is does this mean the control unit is fried? and should i stop driving it until i change the pump?

Depends on how much additional damage you wish to pay for.

When you accelerate with low fuel pressure the mixture is extremely lean -----why the power is so far down........doesn't take long or many tries to melt pistons and valves,

The extra rich [normal] acceleration is there to protect the weak cast pistons.
