Well two days ago i took out all my speakers and sent them to bose for free rebuild. I took the back seat off to get to the back speakers and did not put it back in yet. Ever since i took the back seat off i hear noises from what seems to be the fuel pump. I never heard anything when the backseat was on. It kind of sounds like when a Q amp goes bad. You think its the fuel pump? If so should it be perfectly quiet or is it okay to make some noise?

Its absolutely the fuel pump. In my opinion, a little whirring/humming is acceptable, but loud buzzing (especially under acceleration) is not.

What I refer to as loud buzzing, however, is hard to describe. Its definitely louder than what I believe you're referring to.

On initial start, you should hear it ramp up to top speed to pressurize the fuel lines, then drop to its lowest speed before you engage the starter.

Some pumps are quite noisey, others are not, before thay fail. Difficult to judge the noise level with interior compnents removed which seal the cavity in which the pump resides.

Q45tech has some posts on looking at the wave form on a scope to determine if it is really failing.

Always heard the start noise even with the seats in. It doesnt seem to get louder under acceleration. Every now and then it makes a weird noise like a stumble or something

Might be best to consider replacing immediately before your FPCM is toasted by it.

I would call Joe today!

One of mine (original) started making noise at 63K, so I replaced it as my mom mostly drives it and I didn't want her to ever be stranded. Nor did I want to stress the FPCM.

TSB for the 1991 G50 offered to replace the rear speakers for free.

In the previous threads, some others have gotten fronts and even other years replaced also.

I emailed Bose and said i had a 1991 Q and i hear there was a recall. I cpmplained of poping and squealing in all speakers.(Even though the most of them were blown out) They asked if i took it to the dealer to be replaced. I said no because i just bought the car a couple months ago. Then they emailed me back saying they would be happy to rebuild/fix all four under their "customer goodwill policy". I wish every company was like Bose.
