I know the upgrade to the Walbro pump or what ever it is called is needed for the sr20det if you plan to go to more boost. I was wondering for now I am running stock settings on my sr20det but I have the KA24E Fuel pump and I was wonder if this pump would be ok for a while and would I have any trouble with it ?

Anyone have problems with thier stock KA fuel pump or is it routine to replace it during the swap?

I just need to know it will be ok for now on the stock sr20det settings.

The fuel pump is sooo cheap and easy to install. Why not just go ahead and get it? On a cold night, your turbo will put out more boost. Don't know if it will stay where you expect it to with your KA pump. What are you using to control the boost?

I know the pump is cheap but Im broke lol. I just got the swap done and paid for so I have no money at the time exspecially with college. I should only be on this fuel pump for a month but I need to know that it will be ok until then.

Right now I have no boost controller just the stock 7 PSI.

All my mods are in my sig.

please change out the fuel pump. it is so bad for your car to be running on the stock pump. I just read on another thread about how someone didnt change out their ful pump and they melted a piston or something. It wont break ur motor especially since you dont many mods but it is putting stress on your motor.

think about this...you used to have a car with 4 cylinders now you have a car with 4 cylinders and a turbo....think it needs more fuel?

OK yet again let me say I am going to change the pumps but I need to know if it will be ok for a month or so on the stock one. Also it wont strain the motor it will strain the pump which will go out first if I do have problems.

Also who ever "melted a piston" is lying to you. You would have to have EXSTREME heat to "melt" a piston and lack of fuel doesnt make the engine hotter it makes it run lean but from what I have heard from the company that put it in the Air/Fuel mix was ok.

Perhaps, "melt" was a bad word, but all that engine has to do is lean out and your engine will be toast. Lack of fuel makes the engine much hotter. Next thing your getting headwork, valves and pistons. If that happens you will wish that you had just changed out the fuel pump.

I understand that your a/f is fine now, but if you run the car on a cold night, you will get more boost, but will you get more fuel? Probably not. Now you have a lean condition and you are on your way to detonation.

My simple answer to your question is, don't do it. That's just my $.02. If I'm wrong, you spend money on a fuel pump sooner than you wanted to. If I'm right you do major engine work. It's your choice.

leave one of your couplers a little loose, either that or just dont give it enough to boost past 3-4psi till you get a new fuel pump.

Umm thats why it has a waste gate to help from over boosting. Ive been told by some people on here the stock pump on the stock 7 psi will work but I want to hear from someone who has run on the stock one for a little while.

Also what is the stock fuel delievery for the pump adn what is the sr20det stock fuel pump delievery.

I understand that the upgrade is needed if I go to more boost but I am not right now and I do not plan to do any mods until I get a new PUMP. So please stop telling me that if I upgrade my car I will regret not getting a 225 or 255 (what ever it is) pump because I know this...

What is the stock delievery rate? Ive heard that the 7 psi isnt to much strain on it but I havnt heard from anyone who had to use the stock pump for a little while.

Turst me I would get the pump in a sec. If I had the money.

Thank you.... I talked to my friend today and he was saying the stock SR20det pump isnt that much bigger or different than the KA...

I only plan on running it on that pump for a month at most.
