would a clogged pump sock cause sputtering? i've changed my pump sock more than once since my second attempt at turboing. the reason i have to keep changing it is because the first time i turbo'd hte car i stupidly sealed my fuel pump access port (s13) with water pump gasketmaker. the gasoline quickly ate right through it. i thought i got all the gasket maker out but i guess not. the car sputters like it's a boost leak so i tested it and found a leak. i fixed the leak the same day and the car still sputtrers. it's driveable but i'd like to be able to push the car hard when i autocross it.

Yes, a clogged fuel pump sock could potentially cause studdering. It could also destroy your pump. Just make sure you dont have another boost leak first. It would also be very helpful to have a fuel pressure gauge. That would tell you for sure if its a fuel problem. You can install the gauge then have a smog shop take your car on a dyno and simulate the driving conditions where you get the studdering.

damn it, i found a leak by using a smoke tester. i plug the machine into the intake and push smoke throught the entire system until i see smoke. the culprit was my egay bov. lol, i know i guess i'll be in the market for a name brand bov.

ok i've come to the conclusion that it's not a fuel issue causing the sputtering. as much as i'd like it to be that simple it isn't. i think it's something else, maybe electrical. the reason i say that is because the car cuts out like it wants to die. it only happens when i go wot but it only does it if the car has been idling for long periods of time. when i first start the car and let it warm up i can drive it at half throttle maybe 3/4 throttle but it'll still sputter. it cant just be a clogged fuel sock because i've driven the car hard before with a clogged sock. this problem just started happening after i fixed a few boost leaks. throw out any scenarios you can think of cuz i'm all tapped out.

ok here i go talking to myself again but i think you should just change the sock this weekend for the autox and if it works you know you have to change your tank or clean it.

so you're gonna change the tank now right?

you know it. the car ran so awsome today i was fudgin stoked. to feel the power again was great so i have no choice but to fix it.

i heard that the pump sock was brown.

yeah dude shyte was nasty. looked like someone took a handful of dirt and shoved it in my tank. i just gotta find time to to pull the tank outta my hatch and put it in my coupe.

well do the damn thing.
