Thanks to all the related posts & the search button, I was able to replace the fuel pump on my 92 Q45 with no trouble at all. The most time consuming part of the job is removing the rear package shelf. Although I've completely rebuilt engines and restored American muscle cars, all the input here was extremely helpful.

Thanks again!

Just thought I'd chime in, and check to make sure you replaced your fuel filter too. You probably know your stuff, but I've made more than my share of fatal errors.

I also replaced my fuel pump recently and had very little trouble thanks to this forum. I did the fuel filter too. My biggest almost mistake was forgetting to order a new o-ring to seal the tank. It cost me an extra day but I'm glad I took the time to do it right.

Sure would love for [new pump] members to measure their idle fuel pump current after a 15 minute warm up............use dc ammeter in place of 15 amp fuel pump fuse left of dash.

3.2 amperes seems to be common new, 4.0-4.5 amps seems to start the hearable noise?
