bad bad bad bad.

better hope you didnt fry the pump. running the pump dry is one of the more effective ways to kill it quickly.

its a liquid pump, not an air pump.

the fuel is its coolant. running it dry will cause it to rapidly overheat.

why didnt you just run power to it while it was in the tank, and use a fuel pressure gauge???

http://www.everythingnissan.com

they have the pump for 229.63

you may get a deeper discount by informing them you are a nico member.

how long was the pump bad for? sometimes if you let a bad pump go, it takes out the fuel pump control module.

i dont know what else to tell you.

you would have gotten the best deal there, most likely.

if you need it immediately, you might have to bite the bullet and pay the dealer for it.

if i were you, i would order it and wait.

There are cheaper non-factory parts of course, and most will work just fine...for a while. The risk of having to buy another part and do the job again within a couple years is too high IMO. Aftermarket parts have a bad reputation for a reason. Honestly I'm very surprised yours died so soon and without tell-tale signs.

Very few FY33 fuel pumps for 1997-2001 Q45 on this board have ever had to be replaced. Check (and steam clean) the tank while you are at it. Get a new filter also. Something must have contaminated your fuel for it to fail so soon.

This brings up a new question... if the FY33 pump is a multispeed setup, what sort of output does it have? Could it be a more reliable updated replacement for the G50 series? Maybe if paired with it's own updated (protected) FPCU?
