Hey everyone im new to this forum I just got a 93 240sx and im having some trouble with it.Everytime i turn the ignition it seems like the fuel pump wont prime. I changed it out and still have the same problem. I checked the fuel pump connector with a test light and saw that im only getting power in one of the leads. Do any of you have any ideas? Is there a way I can just re-wire the fuel system myself?

It only has a one power... So it doesn't get power to the pump until you crank the engine?

check the fuel pump relay, its in the relay box by the battery. also check all the engine bay grounds as thay will cause your fuel pump to not work.

Ok so I was thinking about hardwiring the pump. Im not sure exactly how but ill explain to yal so please correct me if im wrong.

I was gonna cut the two pump wires on the connector coming out of the fuel pump(tank side). I was gonna wire the white/purple wire to a relay that is connected with a 12ga wire to the battery with an inline fuse.

My question is what do i do with the blue/red wire and I know this may sound dumb but do i still keep the connector connected to the harness? Is the relay wired back to any wires on the harness side?

I know yal may say search it but i only get internet access at my job and i hardly even have time to search.

the fuel pump primes when you key on the ignition to prepare to start the car. it will do this for about 2.5sec. if your fuel pump relay is bad it wont prime, if your cas in the dizzy is bad it wont prime. if the fuze is bad it wont prime. if there is a bad engine bay ground it wont prime and you wont get spark. you can find the fuse and the relay in the box by your battery. some people will shove a wire in with the fuel pump fuse to trigger an electric fan setup, if this was done and removed by the previous owner its possible the fuel pump fuse isnt making good contact remove the fuse and check the socket. you can hardwire your fuel pump but i believe the IACV also uses that hot lead.

the air reg solenoid uses that hot lead.

if you want to relay that ish. at the fuel pump plug

blk/yellow is ignblk and/or blk/white is ground

the green/bluered/blkdepending on 1st or 2nd gen s13 they go to your fuel level gauge and low fuel warning light in your gauge cluster

i would just take the two black wires from that harness, put them together and ground them back there. then for the blk/yellow wire use a relay to boost amperage and trigger.

ive just rewired a few of these cars from scratch. not even painless wiring, scratch
