So the other day driving home form work my car suddenly died. I lost all engine power. So i tried to start it back up thinking my stalling problem could be rearing its ugly head again. But nope. It wouldnt turn over. So i glided into the nearest gas station and sad a while hoping the car might turn over. Then i realized that the humming noise i had grown so accustomed to was gone. OH NOES! i said, although with a different choice of words. I knew my fuel pump had met its demise.

Skip to yesterday. After talking with Wes i had ordered the appropriate items from Joe and from ebay. I got my pump and O-ring and a new fcpu. the pump i ordered arrived promptly at 10 am due to the miracle of overnight shipping. So after i got done with class i set off to tear apart my car and yoink that devil of a pump. which i succeeded in doing. I took it out care, cautious not to screw up the float. then i put the new pump in exactly as i had seen the old one. the only thing missing was the new fcpu.

Today. I got the new fcpu today and threw it in. NO GO! I couldnt believe it. i know i put the pump in right. and the fcpu had come from a car with a working pump. thinkin there was a possibility the fcpu was faulty i attempted to ground the pump just to see if it would run. NO GO! Now i was really quite angry. I called Wes and we thought about it and it came up that i could hear the relay. but the pump still wouldnt go. So i tried a new relay. NO GO. somehow it seems as if the pump is not getting power. I really miss my car and desperately need it to come alive again. all help is appreciated in the matter. im sure ive left out some details. so ask away. thanks in advance for your help.

BTW sorry for the double post. Wes allowed it to help this topic get some attention.

try check if fuel is coming to the fuel filter and out of the fuel filter... you might need to change the filter out... if no flow @ all, check fuses, quality of part ordered, everything wired write? ....

the pump wont even run. no power. the part quality is OEM from joe so... The wiring is almost dummy proof. it has little imprints on the pump so you know where the ground and where the postive go. I also just canged the filter no more then 1000 miles ago. i think the fuses are good becuase i dont think the relay would click if the fuse was bad but ill go check to make sure.

Hmmm, I wonder if there was anyway to test the pump somehow, removed from the car, so we could see if its faulty or not...

chris said the only way he knows to beat the trunck and see if it cranks... if its a remanufactored fuel pump- its 90% likely not going to work... if you're not getting power to the pump then you got a bad pump

there was no need for wiring trimming or whatever on this pump (like the walboro units)? because one time the wires i crimped together with the required crimp plugs got loose so i resoldered them for ultimate security.

make sure the amp for the fuel pump is either 10a if its OEM replacement (or match, etc.) or 15a for aftermarket (especially important if you have an SR).

when you turn the key to accessory and u dont hear the pump whine or suck for a couple of seconds, then something is deathly wrong.

get back to me with what kinda motor you have and ill attempt to source you some diagrams. anyway, good luck!

Ok well for starters its a VH45. Second the wiring for the pump requires no wirinf trimming. it has a connector on it and it just screws into the terminals on the pump. I have the service manual for the car and thus far it has been no help. when i turn the accessories on the relay clicks but the pumps doesnt do anything. it wont hum like before but i should at least be able to hear it. the pump is OEM directly from joe at everythinginfiniti.com and was an exact match of the old pump. so thats what i got for ya. hope it helps you help me.

$18 in the automotive section. But thanks for that. Anyways...I checked the resistance between terminal a and c and got 0.8Ohms so i really dont know weather that is good or bad.

I looked in the FSM and in says it should be between .2 and 5.0 so ithink im good there. for the relay inspection. do i just turn on the car for the 12v or what. i see a wire type thing in the diagram is that a connection with a wire and alligator clip or what. And jesda, do you remember what pin i should grround. Wes couldnt recall so i dont know if im doin it right. he said something about a burnt pin as well. i have none that look burnt. so i dont know what that means...

Check your boards very carefully as the trace that carries the ground is inadequate and sometimes must be jump wired around. It's in the previous posts, but it might be archived.
