You mean the Fuel Pump Control Module? In the trunk, under the parcel shelf, passenger side. Got FSM?

You can find the FSM here:
http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Q45/
You'll have to figure out which model year your Q is (although for the location of the Fuel pump control unit it don't matter much). I'd recommend looking in el.pdf (el for electrical).

FPCU on FGY33 have never been reported to fail.

How about a maintenance history? Diagnostic steps? Symptoms?

I assume you checked the fuse and fuel filter?

The former should have been pulled first, the latter replaced.

Are fuel pump relays called modules? My ride is a 2000 Q45 with 192k. Last week, cranks but no start. Initial fuse check good. Next morning started and ran for 30 min with great power, garaged but would not restart. Replaced fuel pump OE listened for hum with radiator hose and then checked voltage at fuel pump connector(12v for 3-4secs). No start. But engine seems to detect residual fumes from system. Tries to "catch". I want to check pressure, is there a schrader valve at rail? Would fuel filter or regulator cause this type of failure. I am original owner and hope these questions help with above thread. Reviewed

:welcome: to NICO!

The control module is different than the relays. I assume you can ground a pin on the connector to bypass it (for testing purposes) but I'm not sure on the 97+ Q45. The FSM should show you the ground (-) pin coming from the pump to the module. That's the one you would try grounding to see if the pump runs. If it does, your control module is probably cooked.

thanks for the welcome: i checked voltage at the connector that would go to the fuel pump and it is 12v and stays on for 4-5 secs during futile crankin, then turns off as it should if there is no ignition. furthermore, i hear the faint hum of the fuel pump for the five seconds through gas tank filler with a hose to the ear. I need to check fuel pressure at the rail.. do you know of a picture which shows the testing port? any other ideas? from what i gleaned, the 97-2001 are different. BTW, if i'm getting voltage at the fuel pump connector, doesn't that mean the relay, module, and fuel pump control module is working? thanks, lived in columbia for a while, back while..

followup, this pm: taking off fuel line after filter, gas flows freely. Spraying starter fluid(small amount) engines runs until fluid quickly burnt off. I don't think fuel is getting past injectors....I have not formally checked fuel pressure, though.
any obvious thoughts. i have gas in tank, i have evidence of the new pump turning over, free flowing gas post filter, and spark plug function. ??

There is no port available to test the fuel pressure. You have to pull the fuel line where it goes into the rail and insert a tee to feed a hose to the gauge.

I assume the fuel line at the rail is on the passenger side of the engine and has what looks like a fuel pressure regulator with a vacuum line from it. There is another hose right next to it, the same diameter, which may be the return line?
Alldata shows the fuel pump relay to be near the passenger front seat, but there are relays in the trunk (blue) which are right of the tank in the trunk on a metal hanger. There is no clear answer to the location of the fuel pump relay on this 2000 Q 45 in the threads, because i would like to be able to test the fuel pump by a bypass. any help is appreciated.

Have you looked in the factory service manual? www.nicoclub.com/FSM/

FSM great . Fuel pressure post filter is 41 psi then drops to 0. This is during the 5 second prime and the starter cranking, but the engine not starting. Starter fluid sprayed into intake manifold during cranking starts engine and burns off quickly and engine stops. I think this means the plugs are clean, fuel pump & components work but fuel is not introduced into cylinders. All fuses are intact. Where is the problem? Could it be an acute failure of the fuel pressure regulator? The fuel injector fuse is intact. Any 2000 Q 45 owners with ideas on solving this problem.?. Thank you

Problem solved! All makes sense in retrospect.... The nonchipped key, non security key, was being used intermittently. At least after 192k miles the Q has a new oem pump and I learned of a great resource of info.
