i have a 1990 hatchback automatic. when i turn the ignition ON, i do not hear the fuel pump priming. the fuse is good along with the relay. when i put 12v to the fuel pump it kicks on. this problem occured over night...what the heck could it possibly be, please help me.

Time to break out the FSM and the meter.

How do you know the relay is good? Did you swap it with a known good one?

Check the fsm and see that the wires that feed the relay are good. Work back from the relay and be sure you have voltage where you are suposed to.Did you change anything just before this happened? if so undo it.
