Lately when the car is cold (starting out in the morning) I get this hesitation when shifting from first to second (automatic). It almost seems like the car is bogging down and higher rpm the car runs great but low rpm and it feels very sluggish. Once the engine is warm though, the hesitation is very minimal to non existent.

I would also like to mention that before starting the car -ignition on I hear a noise I would describe as a moaning noise. It sounds like my fuel pump is on its last legs. Has anyone replaced one themselves? If so how involved is this.

Also can the first problem be related to a weak fuel pump?

I have just done a full tune-up - oil, filter, plugs, wires, air filter, coolant, fuel filter, cap and rotor so it shouldn't be any of those.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You could try it, problem is.... one of those fuel pumps is deadly expensive at the dealer so it's cheaper to just get a walbro unit off of ebay... Very easy install, if you don't all those yourself, you shouldn't have any problem putting in a walbro unit. Try running some sea foam "SLOWLY!!" (about 15 min for the whole bottle) easy way of doing this is stick those red tubes that come with brake cleaner spray cans into the brake booster line, get some duct tape and tape it so that it's securly on the boost line, run the engine and siphon out the seafoam. Running it slowly gives it time to break down the carbon and such buildups inside your engine. Can't say that these two steps will fix your problems... but it's two more things off the list.
