Well...about August 10th i was coming home and it was raining real hard (don't know if that has any significance with my dilema) and then my car starts to starve of fuel and kept cutting off and coming back till i slammed it to see if it got an feul...it did, then, completley died...so after a few minutes i see my fuel pump 10 amp fuse blew...so, i replace it and go home, no problem for the next few days...and then yesterday i go to the beach and on the highway same thing happens, no fuel being sent to motor...so i pull over and replace the fuse n keep driving, and then...again...and again...and again, about 12 fuses blown n then next thing i know a tow truck pulls up n says he was ordered to get me off the highway...so 140 dollers later my car's in my garage...and a wise friend of mine told me this is a well known problem on 240's, that the wires from the feul pump get corroded during the years, specifcally the blue and white one...so he suggested i unclip the clip by the fuel pump with the wires...cut the clip, clean the wire, and then extend it a tad and soder them and ditch the clip...he also suggested a new fuel pump...

Fast forward to Saturday Night....

Alright, so my friend and I swapped the fuel pump a for a Walbro 255 Saturday night. Pretty simple. The wires for the fuel pump, just cut crimped them and then heat shrinked it. Put everything back together, and primed it a few times. Then Started it. Ran fine, I took it around the block, then he did. Ran fine. No problems. Then about 45 minutes later, we decided to go get some chinese 3 blocks away. Drive there, park up wait 15 minutes for the food. Got it, hopped in drove off, then a block later, it blew the fuse. We put a new on in, Blew on the next block. Then we checked the fuse again, changed it, started up, and when he put it in gear it blew. 30 minutes later (1am) we come back to the car, pull the pump assembly back out, everything's fine. Changed the Engine Control Fuse cause that blew too aswell as the Fuel pump fuse. Same ****. Haven't cut the clips for the fuel pump off yet, gonna do that later.

Very frustrated over it. Need to pick someone's brain on it.

Sorry for the long post.

I have a few ideas, I worked through all kinds of fuel pump issues. If you have a fuel pressure gauge, find out what your fuel pressure is. Are you running an adjustable fpr? Hi-flow pumps w/ a stock fpr usually raises the fuel pressure a bit, but not enough to blow a fuse. Is the fuel pump really loud? Its gonna make some noise but if you're thinking "wow, wtf is going on in there?" Your fuel pressure is too high and the pump is working too hard. I got my nismo fpr mixed up and cranked it all the way down (fuel pressure must have been 100psi) the pump was whining bad, and blew the fuse about a mile from home.

Another idea, turns out this wasn't my problem but apparently happens a lot on sentras. Those 4 plastic terminals on top of the fuel tank cover plate. Sometimes they get corroded on the inside and cause a poor connection. Jam an x-acto knife into the +12V one and if green corrosion comes out its bad.

If neither of those help you out, I guess you will just have to start chasing wires. The fuel pump circuit isnt that complicated, so you're kind of lucky that way. Get a fsm, and go over the circuit diagram. You know the fuel pump is good, so I would start at the battery and work your way back.

Have you done anything to the car at all recently? Even if its unrelated. I had a similar problem where I was blowing out ign fuses. Turns out the wires to my cd player were loose from me installing gauges during the weekend.

Good luck!

well...august 27th...we cut the clip by the fuel pump and replaced those corroded wires...thinking that's gonna solve our problem...and so we took it around the block n some, n it shuts off....again...we took apart the center console, found 4 wires loose, covered em with connecters...and the fuel pump fuse and engine cont fuse still keep blowing. I'm at a point where i just wanna pay off my tickets, leave the car in the garage, and use public transportation. No clue where my short is. And i doubt a shop would know either. and yes we thought about tracing the fuel pump wires but we never took apart a panel to mess with it to begin with.
