Got our second car which is a hatch up and "running" kinda. Motors in and everything is finished, we put in a Wahlbro 255lph again, but this time when we crank the car it runs for a few seconds and then the fuel pump fuse blows and the car cuts out.

Fuses are for girls! Hard wire it. JK, don't do that. I get to trace down a short in my tailight circut tommorrow. I put in a fuse and as soon as a hit a bump, the blows it. REAL frustrating. But as for the fuel pump, do as Joe said. Check the resistance on the circut also. If it's real low, you may have a short.

Is this a new Walbro pump or is it one you removed from a previous car? FYI...If you ever remove a pump from your tank DO NOT let it dry out. I have had a few customers have issues with this in the past. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info Terry, I'd never heard that before. Also, Roofus, try running a straight 12V to the fuel pump and make sure it's turning/pumping. You might try unhooking a fuel line and see if gas comes out. If the pump is siezed, it could blow the fuse.

do you have a SOHC car? If so your fuse is a lower rating than the DOHC ones. Check that, buy one that's 5amp bigger and stick that in there. You'll be fine, a lot of guys had that problem back in the day upgrading to 300zx fuel pumps on the KA24E cars.

If you do this, make sure it's still in your tank. Running the pump dry can destroy it!
