Hey all,

I have an old 1991 Q45 and will be replacing the fuel pump within the next week or so. I went on Ebay and noticed a big difference in prices on the pumps. Any advice on a particular brand?

Thanks,

Scott

I would avoid ebay unless you absolutely have to. Call Infiniti of Scottsdale or infinitpartsusadotcom. If you can spare the cash, its always better to use the OEM pump.

nissan

no seriously--best is a new Nissan pump. second choice for me would be a used nissan (hamburger) pump over any aftermarket stuff (non-pedigreed). third choice would be to find the OEM supplier to Nissan and buy their pump (I guarantee you it is NOT borg warner or beck arnley or TRW/moog, etc.)

hows yer chain guides on that 91?

Thanks for the replies. Looks like it'll be an original equipment pump!

I Havent done the chain guides yet. I hardly drive the car really; it just sits in the garage. When I was driving it I never jumped on it because of the guides. I would take it on the expressway and spool it up to 100+ MPH slowly just to keep its blood running. I just love the feel of it, it's such a great car.

Maybe some day I'll be able to afford to bring it back to it's old glory; but, with one in college and another 1 year away..........

Best,

Scott

Not to scare you, but it could happen at anytime. Hate to see another Q blow up, just giving you the heads up. Good luck with it.

the chain guides should top the fuel pump on your priority list. what good is a good OEM 275 dollar fuel pump if you have a blown motor.

Have to agree there, would make more sense to bite the bullet now. Replacement motor + labor is gonna be loads more than a chain guide replacement.... And unless the car is near & dear to you, its not even worth it to replace the motor as it will exceed the cars value.
