This question is directed at everyone, but mostly looking at nsrZ32 for an answer . I have been having a number of problems with getting my Z32 TT running. It wouldn't stay running one night; it would just stumble and idle very rough and then die! I found that the fuel pump control module was fried, and ordered a used one from Z1motorsports. We (our family technician and I) put in the new(used) FP c/m and it doesn't help. This weird because it was obvious that the old one was bad right? I mean come one, it was MELTED inside! Anyway, I sent the FP c/m back to Z1 along with my Z1 ECU to see if the ECU took a dump also. Result: The Z1 ECU and the FP c/m were both fine. Hmmmm......WTF now. So after it being at my friends shop forever while they are on the phone with a helpline and diagrams and what not, they come to the conclusion that the inputs and output were screwed up and they(tech hotline) said it wiped out my fuel pump! Damnit !!!!!!New fuel pump (from NISSAN) put in and still doesn't run right! After much thought and research and diagnosis, we come to determine that the FP c/m is there only to lower the out put of the fuel pump at idle to keep the fuel pump noise down! WTF! What engineer had to justify his paycheck and add that odd contraption! Supras have a similar concept, but all they use is a relay, thats it! So we decide to bypass the FP c/m. Oh no! The moment of truth!.............The car starts and runs fine!!!!!!! So I get my car back tomorrow in running condition, along with the new 555 injectors and a new tune from Z1. My question is (and hopefuly somoeone who has had first hand experience doing this), is it safe to run like this. I am pretty sure it is. All that is different now is my fuel pump is on at the same speed all the time, instead of slowing down at idle to reduce noise. If this is bad (which I don't think it is) I will then order a new FP c/m from nissan this time, and go from there.Any help is much appreciated!

Wow....that's crazy man. I'll see what I can find out but I'm quite sure the fuel controller does more than that.

I'm having the exact same problem right now. I know this is an old thread but could you tell me how it turned out? My stock module is fried and don't know whether or not to buy a new one!!!!

yes it's fine to run the pump without the fpcm, it'll just run a bit rich idle and low speeds, might be an issue if you have emissions testing in your area otherwise not a big deal, most cars don't both with this sort of over engineering but their ecu's are not tuned to the varying fuel pressure either

Allow me to resurrect this once more:) Seeming to have the same problem and the noise of the fuel pump (you can always here it the moment you touch the throttle) is annoying. I assume a new FPCM will fix this right up?

The thing is, I just had a new fuel pump installed, is it possible the wiring is simply wrong causing it to run at a higher speed at all times? There is no need to disconnect anything from the FPCM when installing the fuel pump, correct?
