Fuel Problems...

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

On saturday morning, my fiancee had to get the Ex towed to the dealer because of fuel problems. From what she told me, the car threw a check engine light, and went from completely full(We filled up last night) to empty in about 20 miles of driving. Dealer has no clue what's going on, and is waiting for monday(today) to call tech-line for a list of solutions. We had the car for about 7 months and theres only 6500 miles on it. Anyone ever had this problem?

eX350z,

Yes, I have heard of this problem and it was the fuel pump. My friend had this issue and once the fuel pump was changed out, his car worked again.I think there are more to these fuel pumps than just a humming noise while on start up.

For example, the faster I drive the louded my pump was making a buzzing noise. The TSB doesnt state this, so maybe your issue is related to the fuel pump.

Does your car have the old fuel pump by chance? Did your recall get done?

Hope this helps.

No, i'm actually i'm still running original pump, but my service person told me that the mech. had started the car and it still read that it had a full tank? so they think it has to do with the electrical system, some kind of glitch. so they say... but Thanx though, i'll keep you posted!

I'm not sure if I had the same problem but whenever I filled up for gas my fuel meter only showed 3/4 full and then all of a sudden it would drop to half and then back up again. it was like watching the NYSE/TSX. Anyhoo, they changed the fuel pump and was all well after.
