i have been doing some work to my car recently, installing a megan exhaust manifold with a t25/28 turbo i got from a buddy, new radioator and nismo fpr. when i took it out for a test drive down the street, ran like crap if i stepped on the gas so i started to ask myself what i forgot to do and quickly realized i never put in a fuel pressure gauge to adjust the new fpr. i ran down to frsport and picked one up and installed it. hen i start the car, the gauge bounces between like 40 and 60 psi. i don't know what could be causing this. any ideas?the car starts and idles fine and i have a walboro fuel pump that has been in ther for about 2 years, the second of those the car wasnt driven.

i also followed this thread here

zerothread?id=214558

i put the jumper in the fuel pump relay and turned the key to turn on the fuel pump and keep it on without the engine running but it still just sits there bouncing between like 38psi and 55psi? i can even here the fuel pulsing through the lines. i have no idea what could be causing this, the only thing that comes to mind would be the fuel pump?

thanks for any help in advance.

What happens when you adjust the fpr?

figured it out a few minutes ago, it never occured to me to tr and adjust it cause i had ne idea which way to adjust it since it was bouncing all over the place. then it hit me that i should try and adjust it and bam, it stabilized. turns out the setting had the psi too high so the fuel was having trouble going through fpr.

i read in that link above that it needed to be set at 36 psi with the fuel pump on and the engine off, but that was too low. the car would start but once the vacuum kicked in it would pull the fuel pressure too low and kill it. i then rased it too 43.5 ish psi with the pump on and the engine off and it didnt die when i started it after that.

whats the proper way to set it up?

This is what I did: turn key to acc on, engine off. Adjust the FPR to desired reading. Don't tighten the lock nut yet. Turn on car and adjust again accordingto FSM. Tighten the lock nut (tends to leak from there) while the car is running. You may have to adjust again, because once you tighten the nut you'll prollyover adjust the reading. Make sure nothing else is teed off the vac. line to FPR.Hope that makes sense.

So you arent suppose only run the vacuum line to the manifold of the fpr? Not have it T'd off?

It's a good idea to run it directly to the manifold.

I've always t'd mine off, though, with no problems.
