09 S hatchback with 4700 miles.

I was on a long road trip and twice had trouble getting it cranked. but it eventually it turned over, and I went on my way.

This is obviously kind of scary because I'm about 13 hours away from home right now.

Has anybody ever actually been stranded with this problem?

What do you mean by trouble getting it cranked? And eventually turned over? I think with the fuel pressure regulator problem it turns over and cranks easily but wont start right away.Maybe thats what you mean. Most people say its hard to crank or wont turn over when the engine turns over really slow.Like when you have a bad battery or something.

Looks like I've got it too. I have almost identical mileage. Doesn't start well, mostly when warm. Started after first dealer oil change....related?? I have a diagnostic appointment this afternoon. The service manager said he thought it was the fuel pressure regulator but needs to verify. He said if it is FPR, reschedule for repair as he needs to order part. I'll keep you posted.

To me, it's not really an "issue" if it doesn't strand me. It's just a minor inconvenience.

I've had historically bad luck with cars in the past, so as things go, this is no big whoop, again, as long as I don't get stranded 13 hours from home.

What I mean is the engine won't start. I turn the key and it makes noise but the car won't go.

Take it in.

Ticking time bomb if you ask me. Being stranded sucks.

I took my versa to the dealer yesterday to diagnose my issue with starting. To clarify: It always started but, sometimes you had to crank awhile and pump gas..not what a new car should do. Anyway......It WAS the fuel pressure regulator. The have had some valve failure in a few of them and the system loses pressure. It was an easy fix as they had the part on the shelf. Diagnosed and fixed in an hour. Only the regulator needs replaced along with O ring..not the whole fuel pump. Easy access under the seat. It wasn't a serious problem that could strand you somewhere, but annoing as hell.

Ok thats what I thought you meant. I just wasn't sure like I said before usually I think of turning the key and just hearing a click when someone says it wont turn over.

I wonder if the pump is in the same spot on the sedans because I say what I thought to be the pump in the trunk of my sedan under the carpet on the right side.

Mine is a sedan too. I'm almost sure the mechanic said that the access was under the seat but, I'm not sure which seat she meant. I wasn't watching because the dealer service dept. won't let you back there. If your car only has 5,000 miles it's covered under warranty of course. Good Luck
