2 questions, where can i get the adaptor for the fuel pressure gauge, i've searched and didn't come up w/ much. i'm pretty sure my problem is in the fuel somewhere, i've cleaned checked and replaced every sensor that could possibly have gone wrong. i've got awesome compression, i'm getting spark, my timing is pretty close and there are no leaks. but it wont start and the exhaust smells strongly of unburned gas.

so since i couldn't get an adaptor for the gauge i bought i did my own little test. i put a clamp on on the hose under the fuel filter to reduce the fuel flow, i tried to start it up and it came really close. it started fireing just not enough to run. but thats better then before so i'm thinking maybe my fuel pressure regulator is stuck open or something? could tyhat be a possibility thanks~ben

Hold the gas all the way at full throttle while trying to start. If it starts or comes really close then yeah you've confirmed that you have too much fuel. (flooring the gas while cranking shuts off the fuel pump)

I'd check for proper operation of the fuel injectors. They may be stuck open or otherwise leaking.

As for the adapter... I don't know what adapter you speak of...

EDIT: typo fixed

the fuel pressure regulator can be stuck closed, not open, and cause an overly rich condition. if you have a gauge that reads between 0 and 100 psi, you can make your own fuel pressure gauge by going down to the hardware store and buying a three way tee that the gauge can thread on to and two barbed ends that's roughly the same diameter as the fuel filter nipple and putting them on the other ends of the tee. all that's left is to buy a short length of high pressure fuel hose from the local auto parts store and put it on one of the barbs with a clamp and you have an instant fuel pressure gauge for older nissans.

you don't need schrader valves on the end. just a three way tee block, and a gauge that will thread into the tee, and two fittings that will thread onto the other ends of the tee that the fuel hose thats on the car can fit onto and about a one or two foot length of high pressure fuel hose that is the same id of the one on the car and a clamp and put it on one of the fittings.

O' Reilly Auto Parts has the simple kit with the tee adapter for about $40, but no carrying case. Hope this boosts you in the right direction.
