Last weekend i was driving home, i was about mile 50 out of 100. Anyways i pulled out to pass and gave it about 3/4 throttle, the car sudden shook and lost power but quickly regained it. I was worried so i didn't get on it for awhile. I tried it again later down the road and again at about 3/4 throttle the car lost power. It feels like it was having a fuel pickup problem. Anyways i changed the fuel filter, put in some fuel system cleaner and also premium gas to see if that would help, and it did, didn't mess up again til today. I was on another road trip and it starts sputtering and loosing power when i get on the gas about 3/4 to pass, but only then, not when i'm just cruising around. Anyone every had this problem or know someone who has? Do i have a fuel pump going bad or is it something else? It only seems to do it after i've been driving it for a while.

check your air intake for restrictions or a pugged air filter first.

Hey there,

My car had the exact same problem a week ago...I didn't know what it was but the first thing I thought was my fuel pump but instead I started off with my spark plugs...This fixed it immediately. I can almost guarantee that it is your plugs, mine plugs foul up pretty quickly...

Over time bad gas or just silt in the gas tank that gets sucked into the fuel filter will clog it up. Gas will still flow thru (for a while) because of the fuel pressure, but may lag sometimes when you need it most. Thats one of the cheapest and easiest things to replace.

This is a good point as well. check your plug wires closely and see if oil has accumulated on the plug wire boots.

i checked my plugs, cleaned them off and also checked my air filter but they all seemed to be okay. I was thinking about it later on that night about the intake and remembered both days it was raining, and i have a cold air intake, i'm guessing now thats the problem. I just got it about a month ago and that was the first 2 times i had driven it in the rain.
