I have a 2002 Infiniti i35 140,xxx miles on it
Been having it for a few months now.
Car always ran perfect till 2 weeks ago the battery and brake light flashed on me. A few times. I checked the engine oil. And sure enough it was over due.
So I changed the oil and oil filter, when I drained to old oil out it was a little bit enough to fill up a quart.

After the oil changed the next day the battery and brake light came on and stayed on. I took it to the locoal auto store to get the alternator and battery checked. Alternator was good and battery bad. I bought a brand new battery, installed it, car ran perfect for about 20 miles. On my way to work on the freeway the battery and brake light came on and stayed on. Few seconds after that, the pedal seem to stop working. Ill step on it and it won't pick up speed. I pulled over turned it off and back on. And the car turned on but wouldn't gas. Tow truck picked me up and took me home. I started up my car drove it to the local auto store and explained my story. They told me that after the car gets to it's temperature the fuel pump will go out. So I bough the fuel pump and filter. I replaced the pump and couldn't find the filter. I test drove the car drove cool. Till I went home the battery and brake light come on again. The next day I try to start the car and nothing and the battery was fully dead. The trunk wouldn't even pop open.

I recharged the battery and got it tested and they said it was ok.
I just put the battery back on the car and it turns on now, but I'm afraid to drive it and get stranded again. I turn the power on the car and took off the positive terminal of the battery to see if the alternator worked. The car stayed on.

Anyone ever had a similar issues or something close to this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry for the long message I'm new and try to explain In full detail.

Battery and brake lights (at the same time) have always signaled a bad alternator in my experience. Could be an intermittent problem that's not showing up on a bench test.

Thank you for taking time to read my post. I charged my battery and put it back on the car yesterday and the car was working perfect but every time I would turn the car on. The battery and brake lights would stay on a little longer then the other dashboard lights and they would slowly fade away as soon as I drove the car. And today I woke up turned the car on and it started up perfect no battery or brake lights. Turned it off and turned it back on an hour later and it cranked but no start. I tried it again and this time it was completely dead. Not even the dash lights went out. Does that sound like a bad alternator ? Can the alternator keep draining the battery? Sorry for all the questions but I'm new to this.

Something is causing the battery to discharge. Check to make sure all interior lights are going off as they should (dome, glove box, etc).

If you still can not find the issue you can try this. I found it on a Buick Forum, and it seems the next logical step.
if you have an old analog voltmeter do the following. unhook the positive terminal and put it in line between the battery and the cable. It should register a voltage if you have a voltage draw. Unplug your alternator and see of the voltmeter registers different. then go to the fuse block and start pulling fuses, checking the voltmeter after each one. When you get to the right circuit, the voltmeter will go to zero after pulling that fuse. Now you can hunt down where the touble is.

good luck!

Again thank you for your help. Well I was checking the car to see if any lights stayed on.

I found out, since the latch of my gas tank was broken a few days before all this happen.

I had super glued the latch back on. The latch later got stuck pushed in, as if I was pressing down on the gas tank button on the side of the door.

I try to pop open the lid to the gas tank by pressing the button on the door, it didn't open. I grabbed a screw driver and popped it open and noticed that the latch that slides in and out to open the lid was slid half way in. As soon as I moved it the latch broke off again... I checked all my fuses and noticed the fuse for the trunk and gas tank was broken.

So my question is, can tag broken fuse cause the battery to drain out?

I would think that the fuse blowing would prevent that.

On a car like yours. the voltage regulator comes inside the alternator
So chances are that you may have a voltage regulator problem
To test the alternator at an Auto Part is not telling you much and if the problem
repeat over again when the car is hot, obviously you should go and replace the alternator
