i kinda have intrest in doin a n/a ka for kicks, what would be a relatively inexpensive. i already have itbs from my friends bikes but, i read the thread on the DIY itbs, can i still use the distributor or do i have to block it off to control spark and use something else? i already know of megasqiurt but is there anything elseim in the $1000 spendin limit im custom fabbin a adapter for it but those are my quesstions and concerns. anythin insight would be help ful negative and positive.

in an s13 you kinda need the distributor for 2 reasons.

1. Obvious one is it distributes the spark,2. The Optical sensor for ignition timing is part of the dizzy. EVERYTHING is going to need some kind of sensor to get proper spark timing.

I run megasquirt all told i think i spent ~$550 for a wideband and all the megasquirt stuff. It's a good way to go and the new firmware is the bomb.

check this out for some 240 megasquirt info.zerothread/279228

i HIGHLY recommend the MS2 processor with the v3 board then use the MS2 extra firmware. The new beta is awesome. 16x16 ve tables, and with fairly minor wiring you can add things like table switching(different fuels or octanes), launch control with flat shifting, more advanced staged injection, 2 stage nitrous, the list goes on and on.

also wat did you use for your ignition and timing did you use the edis, and also how did you like the firmware was it easy to use understandable. and another question i would be using my regular car ecu to power up the headlights and wat not am i correct and do i have to still get my regular ecu tuned like rev limiter cut and stuff like that?

check out diyautotune.com, the msefi.com forums, and msextra.com.

I used the factory distributor for timing, read the thread to get some of the timing setting i had to use. The megatune software is fairly easy to understand, you really should mess with it and figure out how to use the program before trying to tune your car.Rev limiter is fully programmable to whatever you want

And headlights and stuff are a completely separate circuit from the ECU. The only thing you may have to worry about that is ecu controlled is the AC, the ecu controls the ac clutch. I don't have AC so i'm not sure what you'd have to wire to get the ac to work properly still.

-ms2 pcb3.57-vb921 Single Ignition Output through IGBT- Stimulator-12" wiring harness-IAT Sensor-Bung for mounting IAT sensor -DB9 tuning cable- o2 wideband with sensor

im also in the process of making an adapter palte for my suzuki 1000 itbs as we speak, its gonna sound retarted when this all complete i cant wait!!!!!!!!!

again thanks for the help

nice setup. I got the standard v3 kit because i wanted to be able to point at the ecu and say " yeah you see that.... i MADE it!" that and i really wanted to know how it worked.

my diagram in the megasquirt thread shows how i ran the power, but for other stuff i ran new wires for the injectors, coil, IAT, and the Wideband o2.

Everything else was spliced in from the factory harness.

If you have any install issues just post in the megasquirt thread and i'll try to help.

Hey, another squirter!

The other thing to note is that it's super easy to upgrade from ms1 to ms2 down the road.. Right now they both have their advantages.

That's a good question. Do you mean to say you plan to just suck in hot underhood air? You don't plan to build any kind of box to seal them to and then have a hood scoop or something? Because i that were the case, then placing it in the box would work fine.

If not, just try to ziptie it somewhere relatively close to the velocity stacks. Even if the engine does manage to see air coming in at a couple degrees higher/lower, it won't really make a difference once it's tuned.
