I started my car yesterday, and there was a little more than 1/8 of a tank of fuel left. I then cut it off and started it again today. My tank was empty and my car quickly died. I then noticed some fluid underneath my car but it didn't really smell like gas. I'm guessing it must be. Does anyone know what may have caused this? Could it be a bad fuel line? Has anyone had a similar experience?

I'm getting ready to install my s14 SR swap with a new fuel pump. Should I just wait till then to address the issue, or should I go ahead and fix the problem seeing that this swap and new fuel pump may not fix anything.

Thanks

If it was fuel, check your hoses & fuel filter and open the door to the fuel pump and check that out...

If it wasnt fuel on the ground then your float may be messed up.

I also noticed that when I unscrewed the gas cap, there was no release of pressure (no sound). I'm guessing this is just b/c I have no gas in the tank, but could it be b/c of something else?

Check your fuel return line. If it is leaking from where the rubber hose connects to the fuel rail then it would be kinda obvious, but down below where it connects to a hardline again is hard to see from above the car. Find your fuel lines and tighten all of the hose clamps.

I had that same problem and mine was leaking at the tank. There are 2 rubber lines that are like 1 - 1 1/2foot in length that go from the sending unit of the tank to the hard lines. They had dry rotted out and were leaking fuel, and then I replaced them and problem solved. So check those.

Thanks for everyone's help. I'll check the lines out. If it's not the lines, and say my tank itself is leaking, how much will it cost to buy a new fuel tank?

Thanks again.
