So my friend put his battery in backwards a few months ago, yes I know dont say it, we have since replaced the ECU, many fuses, spark plugs, bypassed the fuel pump relay, and just replaced the fuel pump. we are hearing the fuel pump come on but it is not moving any fuel and I can not figure out why the old pump was doing the same thing but I figured the pump was just not operating properly and figured it needed replacing. The relay bypass was done by another of our friends while I was away doing training and he is currently away for the summer. I do not know if the bypass has something to do with why it is not pumping but is that an option? They didnt replace the relay because I think they said the relay was like $75 and my friend is kind cheap/broke and the guy that was helping him is very cheap and likes to think himself a MacGuiver for some reason. I will preface this with the car is an Rx-7 I belive an 87 but I know it is a 2nd gen. I would post on a mazda or an Rx-7 forum but i dont know of any reliable ones so I figured I would post it here and see if anyone has any ideas

Things to look at:

Dirty Air Filter - replace
:eekdance
Clogged Fuel Filter - replace

Dirty Mass Air Sensor - clean

Dirty Fuel Injectors - run some good fuel system cleaner (not STP junk, good stuff like Red Line...or take it in and have the system cleaned professionally)

Worn Spark Plugs - replace

Worn Spark Plug Wires - replace

Worn distributor components or ignition coils - have looked at and repaired as required. :dblthumb:

Poor Grade Fuel - are you buying cheap no-name gas? Try better stuff

Engine Carbon Build-up - buy a can of Combustion Chamber Conditioner from a Chrysler dealer and follow instructions on can

the rewire was wired in reverse it was pushing fuel not pulling and half of those would in no way stop any engine from starting
