Does anyone know if the old style fuel injectors draw more power when the car is off than the new style fuel injectors?

The fuel/engine control system should be totally powered down when the ignition is off...

yea, If they are drawing power when the car is off, you may have a issue. Time to start probing fuses and finding where your leak is...

Ummmm, from '90-94-ish depending on model, the injectors are in an "always on" state...the reason for electrolysis and failed injectors....

really. so even if the car is off my injectors are on? But im assuming its just power running to them, not necessarily them powered and running.. Yea that made no sense, but Im not sure how to say it intelligibly.

Correct, they are powered up but not operational, if that's the right way to describe it.
There is a mod I've done to all of my Z's to change that, and the '95's on are wired that way from the factory.

I'm not sure the mod is posted any longer as it does have one drawback: once done, the ecu will not store codes after the ignition is shut down because all power is now keyed, and therefore the ECU can't store the code. Solution is to leave the ignition on to read a code that pops up immediately, or be lost until it reads again...not too bad, but therefore the mod doesn't seem to be posted at TT.net any longer.
I believe I may have it printed out in a word doc and will post it up if I can find it...it's a pretty simple mod even a non-electrical guy like me did easily.

OK, found it but can't add it to this post. I did find your e-mail add'y, and sent the doc to you.
If anyone else wants a copy of this let me know and I can e-mail it to you...I consider it a must-do mod due to the fact our injectors already have it bad enough but to be honest, not everyone likes it and my Z guy is included due to the extra code hassle...but gets to deal with it and has always done so therefore I consider it a valuable mod with an asterisk, if you will.

Here is the post from TT.net

At the end of the post, you can tap a 12v from the clock to maintain ecu error codes.

Very nice to know there actually is a workaround for the code issue for those who would not want that issue, although it has never been an issue for me since any codes given will be repeated unless a intermittent problem.
FYI for those who check into this at tt.net, the info for the code fix is contained in the commentary string below the mod, which also outlines the concerns people have had along with the solutions, etc...good reading for those who want to know more about their Z32 and this (electrolysis) background issue.
