My 2008 Rogue is 27 months old and has 37,000 klm or about 23,000 miles..I brought it in for an oil change at the dealer and he told me that the fuel injectors were full of carbon and needed cleaning...Has anyone had the injectors cleaned yet and at how much millage.... ?

dude is trying to rip you off. that's next to impossible for you fuel injectors to be clogging or near clogging after a little over 2 years of driving. unless you only fill up when the gas station is being refilled and when your tank is nearly dry. today's fuels have enough conditioners to slow carbon build up in your injectors for years.

I'm at 56,000mi (93,000km), haven't cleaned the fuel injectors... doesn't need it. On my Altima with the same motor, I put 147,000mi (245,000km) and never cleaned them either.

A few notes about fuel injector cleaning:

1) STAY AWAY from off the shelf fuel injector cleaner products. I do not believe in them and Nissan does not recommend them. Read your owners manual pg 9-4.

2) Nissan issued a TSB way back in 1994 recommending against fuel injector cleaners. At the time, Nissan introduced 'pintle-less' fuel injectors that were highly resistant to clogging. The same still holds true today.

I would ask your dealer how they diagnosed fuel injectors as being clogged, I'd be really interested to hear his response. If you have clogged injectors you'd be noticing performance issues, rough idle, reduced fuel efficiency, poor acceleration to name a few. Normally if you have this degradation of performance, they rule out other problems and by a process of elimination they may at that point speculate that the injectors could be "dirty" and require cleaning. But you obviously don't have this type of situation, I'm assuming your Rogue is running just like new so I agree your dealer is probably just trying to bring in some extra revenue. And of course at 37k km you wouldn't expect your injectors to be clogged.

I wouldn't let him off easy, I'd calmly and professionally request a full explanation as to why he feels the injectors require cleaning, and indicate that you want specific details. I bet he'll squirm and try to brush it off with some general statement, but who knows, lets give him a chance to explain this strange recommendation! Let us know how it goes please.
