You would need some sort of piggy back fuel computer or programmable ecu.

I just bought a Tomei fuel pump, rated to 500hp for my upcoming SR swap. According to Sam at JSpec, its a direct replacement. Do you think this will work on the stock SR ECU program or will I need a retune? Oh, and sorry for the threat jack. To make it a little relevant, would it be healthy to run 550cc injectors on an otherwise stock SR? Obviously using some sort of fuel management.

your fuel pump will be fine without any other mods. i believe its similiar to the walbro (holly) fp. the regulator takes care of returning the extra fuel to the tank. with proper fuel management, any injector is ok to use. 550 injectors usually don't need anything, but larger and they usually need a resistor on each injector or the ecu driver gets hotter and fries in some cases. not to mention it won't run well.shaun

15% over 370cc is 425.5cc, so i would imagine you could use skyline 444cc injectors w/o any problems..right?

*whoops i forgot to mention i have a ca18det, not an sr20..just looked at the heading...oh well

Does anyone know if the SR injectors are high or low impedence. I am swapping to the 444 GTR injectors and need to know this.

so what does the stock fuel pump flow? the walbro, and similar replacements, flow around 255 lt/hr.

would it be good to have different fuel rail for 550cc injectors?

what fuel rails are available?

you're right you cant use top feed injectors, since the RWD Sr20det uses only side feed.

I'm reviving an old thread here, sorry of that bothers anyone. In order to run 550cc injectors, what do you actully have to do with an S-AFC or S AFR? I mean how do you use it to make larger injectors run? just add the fuel increase percentage as much as possible? I have an s14 SR, the turbo is good to about 14psi, but the injectors are only good to 10 on this turbo (so I'm told) so naturally I want bigger injectors, but $500 is a big chunk of change for a retuned ECU. Is trial and error with 550's and one of the aforemetioned piggyback fuel controllers really dangerous? I'd be a little worried about damging the engine while trying to get the 550's to work. Or is it really not that hard?

It would be more of the opposite...the larger injectors flow more, therefor you would lean out the afc, not increase the fuel flow, ya know what i mean?

Dont do a retune, either buy a tuned ecu from japan, but i would stick w/ the SAFC. affordable and good

Thanks Jesse. Do you have any connections for used reprogrammed ECU's? Sam at Jspec and Japandy on ebay used to have them pretty often, but seems they harder to come by lately. So you favor the SAFC over SAFR in this case? Why? I would love to have a Power FC Dejetro, but I don't know how to use one and neiter does anyone else around me, plus i really can't afford one. I'm just looking for a poor boy's way to safely squeeze a few more psi out of my turbo, as 10psi is def. NOT the top of its efficiency.

I have question for you guys... I currently have stock turbo, FMIC, Profec B, stock injectors, stock fuel pump, and other general exhaust stuff. I wanted to upgrade to 555cc's, a Walbro fuel pump, and an SAFC. I've been reading this posting and people have different opinions, but will the 555cc's work fine with my setup. I have a Mine's tuned ECU that I bought from J-Spec. They told me that it was made for the stock setup, but I don't know exactly. Will these items work fine together??

Another question, My car has idle problems. If I unplugg the o2 sensor, it idles a little better. It idles really bad when it's plugged in. Will those items help me out also with my idling problem?

You need to verify the program on the daughter board of the ecu and make sure it is compatible with your set up such as maf. What maf is it programmed for? Have you checked your maf to make sure its good. Are your injectors good? Maybe bad o-rings??? There are too many things it could be. You need to take it to someone thats familiar with the motor. I believe in another post you said the o2 sensor was new and from an 87 300zx. Are your plugs fowling out? What do they look like? Are they gaped right? Apearently its running rich. I know how it is to drive without the o2 plugged up. It runs off of the base map on the ecu by running in open loop. How is your fuel pressure and how much?
