Well on my 90 240sx i had a really bad fuel injector leak until i replaced the o-rings. I thought that would fix it totally but it still leaks barely..i mean a very tiny amount when i start it up. But i don't know if it's still the fuel injectors...the gas settles after it leaks to those spots below the injectors. Can anyone tell me what i can do to fix it? or if it's okay?

cracked injector housing or u might have pinched the o-ring during reinstall... did u put a little oil on em b4 reinstall?

might just need a new one... i just checked autopartsgiant.com & they have pretty good prices on reman injectors. I got pythons from them 2 years ago for ~$30 each.Did all 4 since 2 were leaking externally.

We did put some vaseline on them before putting them back on. When i look at 2 of the 4 bigger rubber rings they are shiny with the gaseoline. i don't know what's wrong with those two. Should i buy 2 new injectors? Is it okay that they leak for now?..it's a very small amount that comes out.

How bad is the leak? Any risk of hydrolocking the car? At the very least keep an eye on the oil quality. The gas will leak down into the oil pan and thin the oil, plus wash away the oil from the cylinders on the way down. Both will cause premature and increased wear on piston rings, cylinder walls, chains, sprockets, and bearings.

the leak is very small..but i still don't like the idea of them leaking..you know? I'm kinda new and i don't know what hydrolocking is. Also i will check the oil quality since i wasn't aware that would happen.

Hydrolocking BAD. 4 cycles in the engine--intake, compression, power, exhaust. If a cylinder has enough fluid in it (water, gas, any liquid) and is on the compression stroke when you start the car, you WILL have something fail. When the piston hits top dead center (TDC--highest point), there is very little volume in the combustion chamber, and nowhere for the liquid to go, so it doesn't take much to cause hydrolock. You would probably bend a connecting rod, or maybe break a lifter. Costly to repair. Happens often in flooded areas. People don't realize how deep the water is until it's pouring over the window sill, and by then, water's already been sucked into the intake and the engine's momentum causes it to hydrolock. Not a really big risk with a slow, drip-drip kind of leak. Gas is pretty thin and will run down past the piston rings pretty quick.

So is it okay for it to have that small leak? I'm probably gonna get a new fuel rail and injectors anyway sometime or another.

It's OK from the standpoint that you aren't at much risk of having anything really bad happen right now. But again, the long-term wear won't be quite as long term. Depends on how much contamination builds up in the oil. Everything that needs oil will wear faster. Keep checking Ebay and get it fixed soon.

I never asked...how do you know you have an injector leak?

I just read a thread, cant remember where, where an injector was leaking out and onto the manifold and caused a fire !

I had 2 injectors that were stuck open before I bought new ones. I got like 10 miles to the gallon... hehe.

Your stock fuel rail should be good, but be ready to fork out some cash. Autozone wants like 110 per injector and fuel pressure regulator... Nissan wants like 150 or so per item.

If it were me... I would take your car to Nissan and have them replace the 0 ring. its like 5 bucks for the O ring ( nuts huh ) and like 1/2 a million in labor per hour, but then it will be right and they will have to figure out why it doesnt seal up. it would be an ivestment, but worth it to me.

I dunno. I replaced the O-rings and those gaskets. Now i realize its a more severe leak than i thought. It made a really big puddle today and i'm not driving it till i know how to fix it. The fuel injectors or the things that are supposed to stop it from leaking aren't doing there job. You think that i need new fuel injectors? because i've replaced all the O-rings and gaskets. What should i do?

Sorry, I'm still confused. Where's this puddle you're referring to? You're looking inside the cylinders?

he means outside the engine.. he said he replaced the seals but gas is still leaking out and down the side of the engine.

have u taken the injectors out and inspected them for cracks? sounds like u need new ones.

Ah well hell I completely misunderstood. If it's only leaking from the top then it's not in the oil or down the cylinder. No chance of hydrolock.

Yea it's leaking on the outside of the engine. I guess i should check the injectors for cracks but i probably need new ones. well..that's good i don't have a chance of hydrolocking. what are some good injectors to relpace the old ones with?

I have the same prob with my 90 fastback its either the seals or could it possibly be that the injector is clogged? I've looked at all of the injectors dosen't seem to be any cracks. i'm not sure but it seems there is something lodged inside and all the gas has nowhere to go but through the seal.

they're remanufactured stock units.

other sites ask for the painted dot color on the injectors...weird... did #2,3 have different flow/needle openings than the others? agh. i got the replacements & they're working for me.

yota, i think the high pressure of the whole fuel system is finding the weak point: your worn/dried-out seal. U can go the seal route 1st, i guess... but w/ that many mles on my car, i didn't wanna do the job 2x, so I gotz me the pythons.

Now, looking back, autopartsgiant.com has even cheaper reman units...
