ok so in my last post i was talking about the problems i was having. so a little update just replaced the fuel pump with an oem one went it great no problems put a new alternator in everything works great. i saved the best for last picked up 8 new injectors had to go the cheap aftermarket way seeing as im on a budget so i get them all removed and in no problem, the second i got to start her up after replacing them i see one of the injectors pissing out gas (thats what i get for no going oem i know) so i took the plenum back off took it out sent it back the manufacturer and they just sent me one back but it is not the same color as the other 7? can anybody help me on this i dont know if i should put it in because it is the same part number , i know different colors usually mean different patters right? and id hate to have it sit in my parking lot while i save up for oem ones. any help would be great thank you. i have searched quick to see if anyone has had this same problem but nothing of significance came up

Injector brand and model? New O ring on the fuel pump?

Gen 2 colors do not matter.

Where did you order your injectors? I understand the colors mean the injector tested to a particular spray pattern range or tolerance group. I would contact the supplier and explain the situation and get them to resend the correct color fast. Can they send you an injector with the correct color, then let you return the wrong color once the correct color arrives?

BTW - I haven't seen anyone replace their injectors with OEM since I've been a member here.

yes when i did replaced the fuel pump i had a new o ring too... they are from advance auto because i get parts basically at cost they get them for. i grabbed the beck arnley part number 155-0297. the 8 that i bought where all tan top and when the one failed i took it back out and had to send it back to the manufacturer and the one they sent back to me was grey? and everywhere i look online whether it be their site or any other they come up with the grey ones.i have to call them tomorrow since they are closed on the weekend to see if they changed the color out of no where? and advanced will not take all 8 back as defects id have to send um all to beck arnley. if they dont take them all back do you think it would be safe to put it in if they same its the same part i just dont want to take no chances ....Thanks for the help

I doubt Beck-Arnley makes them. Find out who does.

BA is a low ball supplier of inferior quality parts, so don't get hooked on them.

I would send them back as there is no way to remanufacture the coils which is what fails with ethanol saturation.

Get the BGW (?) ones listed in Heath's post. Autozone has them also.

Glad I saw this post as I'm in the market for new injectors for my 93 Q and it has raised a few questions for me.

First, is it a bad idea to go with remanufactured injectors?

Second, can anyone recommend somewhere for me to find good injectors for a decent price? I've been considering ordering from DeatschWerks and the only way I've found cheaper injectors is through companies I've never heard of like Beck Arnley and BG Fuel Injector Technologies. What would be a fair price for injectors?

Third, does anyone know where i can get my hands on a 94 Q fuel rail and fuel harness? I've read about the swap that allows the use of 94 injectors on a 93 Q.

When I replaced my injectors, I paid something like $110 each for BWD black dots on my 91 model. I see on O"Reilly Auto parts the injectors now list for $130. I went through a bunch of trouble to find a used Phase II rail. Something would always be wrong with the rail in the passenger side. I finally said "forget it" and went with the DeatschWerks kit. They have a version of the adapter that is plated for extra corrosion protection. You also get new injector wiring harness plugs. Many members here have had success with DeatschWerk injectors and the Phase II upgrade kit.

Check the classified section to see if some members are selling a Phase II rail. Also a 94-96 part out should have those rails.

When you replace the injectors, make sure to lubricate the O-rings to avoid a pinch. DeatschWerks gives a small tube of SuperLube silicone lubricant with the kit and I'm sure with injectors. Carefully tighten the injector caps alternating from side to side (I used one turn) to balance force applied to the new o-rings. A pinched o-ring on installation is bad news.. I took extra steps to pressure test the injectors in the rail before mounting the rails to the runners as shown in the pictures below. I used the blue shop towel to show the smallest amount of leakage.

ok i stuck with the beck/arnley and got all the same injectors after over a week of fighting with them to get everything... took your advice owner cs with the tips of installation of the injectors everything went in no leaks started right up took it out and it still has a miss ,i cannot figure this out.. im going to test all the injectors again...the knock sensor tested fine the first time going to do that again as well though. there is no cel on so im kind of lost i know the coils rarely go im going to see if i have a bad one... could it be something else in there causing this? thanks again

On my old Q, I had a badly fouled plug on the same cylinder as a failed injector on two injector failures. If your plugs haven't been replaced in a while - or or not the OEM specified NGK plug, I would replace them. If they're fairly new, you should be able to clean them with a toothbrush and some gasoline to get them firing again.

It would be good if you were near one of us with a cable to plug your Q into a laptop and isolate the missing cylinder. I had two injectors fail at the same time.

Here's a thread on when my V8 became a V6 that might provide some tips..
