Ok here's the deal... swapped in a KA and it ran fine for around 48 hrs. Then there was a slight miss. So I changed the plugs. Didn't fix it... next, I started pulling injectors one at a time. and when i pulled #4 it didn't change the idle, so i figured that injector was bad.

I swapped #4 injector(which was quite a *****) and it still runs the same. any suggestions, where to look next. could the wires be corroded for the #4 injector plug?

please help. must pass emissions soon.

TIAJeremy

that just means #4 cyl is misfiring. it could be ignition. do you have spark on cyl 4? does the spark jump from plug wire to head? how does the plug look?

ok chris, the problem has escaladed... i checked my oil the other day and it read like a quart over. I know i put the correct amt of oil in the engine. i have also only gotten 168 miles on 3/4 of a tank of gas. i have been smelling gas when it runs, but it's not leaking externally. i think the gas has somehow leaked into mixing withthe oil. which pretty much means i have a bad ring, right? or could the EGR system be faulty. just looking for your input.

thanksJEremy

possible ring issue but i would say its more likely to be running pig rich. if fuel washes out the cyl walls you will get oil contamination as well as loss of compression. sounds like you need an injector.

chris, i just called the fomer owner of the car. He said when he started to disassemble the engine he noticed there was alot of gas mixed in with his oil too. since i have put three different injectors in, i have come to the conclusion that it is in the wiring leaving the injector stuck open. i can get another wiring harness, but should i go ahead and replace the whole harness or just solder on a different injector plug? Or do you think this problem could be ECU related?

No codes have been thrown.

honestly, i dont think that will solve your problem. i have yet to see a car with faulty injector circuit holding injectors open. im sure its possible though. more likely...injector leakagebad ringsecm commanding too much fuel due to faulty input

pay attention to the last one as that is the biggest hurdle you have for diag. could be...coolant temp sensor/circmaf sensor/circo2 sensor/circ(less likely)

being that your car is a 92 it would help to put consult on it and have a looksy(i think 92 is consult compatible).

so, pull the fuel rail/injector assembly but leave it hooked up to fuel lines and turn on ign. when fuel pump is running you should not see any fuel come out of the injectors.

do a compression test.

never rule out an ign misfire as that could cause fuel contamination.

issue resolved. First i put on a new wiring harness. that didn't fix it. so i then tried a different Ecu. Bingo.

Haven't ever heard of an ECU going bad, but then again i'm new to the Nissan world.

Now i just have to pass emissions(barely failed Hydrocarbons) . I'm gonna retard the timing a little and run some alcohol through it. hopefully it'll pass.

praise the Lord. sounds like you are one the right track. ecm failure is not common in a laboratory environment but can happen on occasion in the real world.

retarded the timing back to about TDC an ran a cut my Hydrocarbon count in half.

I don't know where to start now. As far as performance go, I'll probably make an intake, get a nice filter, Pull the AIV hose, and probly even block off the EGR.

are there any other nice free mods you could recommend?

I'll be installing new Gabriel Shocks in the rear along with a rear Tie bar and strut tower bars up top.

I'll probly save up for a J30 Lsd and a bigger sway bar and Tein springs.

but first i've gotta get rid of that damn timing chain guide. that stupid thing is annoying.

I have a 92 240 Mine was missing on the #3 cylinder which was located by pulling the wire of this injector. problem is after I pulled out the injector but can't get new one in even when I oil the o-ring. Don't know if it solved the problem. Can anyone tell me how to get the new injector in. I am new on this site and can't figure out how to ask it on regular forum.

push it down as far as it will go so its centered in the hole. put the cap on and use the screws to suck it the rest of the way in.
