well my lovely Q45 decided to throw me a curve ball today, i had send out my injectos to Deatshwerks to have them cleaned, they had tested them and said they were bad, even tho the car ran, so now my options are to go with the phase 1 injectors that will bolt in but are expencive, or go with phase 2 injectors and they say i have to buy an adapter kit for a hundred something dollars, and buy the injectors that are about 400 something a set and they should work, will going with the phase 2 injectors be a better way to go? has it worked? is it reliable? is fuel milage as good as i want it to be? thanks to everyone.

Idle and steady cruise will be the most difficult because the 1.1-1.2 millisec open time has a 0.6-0.7 millisec dead time before the pintile opens enough to flow fuel and a ramp up so 0.5 millisec is not real more like 0.33-0.35 millisecs at 34 psi.

Tough as nails to get the correct idle flow and difficult to get the cruise flow [but at least that can be trimmed by O2].

I've been collecting new injectors for 4 years [whenever I find an ebay bargain], so far I have just 4 but the cost less than $200.

I would hate to see you disappointed in some half axxed solution ? VS brand new or just multiple used ebays if the price is right.

Check ebay 370 cc injectors 4 for $88 currently buy it now. I just 2 are really good cheap.

Will these work in a Q (I'm thinking for my '92)? I dunno if that seller would sell 8 of them, but even if I had to buy two sets, it's far cheaper than buying dealership new injectors and I'd have 4 spares. The 740cc injectors are pretty cheap too and can be bought in sets of 4 (anyone ever heard of making the MAF tube double stock cross sectional size and using double stock rate injectors; allows using stock computer and lots of boost without pegging the MAF).

370cc is pretty gigantic for a 561.75cc cylinder if a 650 rpm idle is what one wants................the problem is getting the idle smooth with any larger size injector and you usually have to increase idle rpm by the same % as the injector increases.

The idle cruise low 34 psi already makes the injector appear 11% smaller to function.

Working at WOT is so easy compared to idle, cruise and medium acceleration where the true genius reside and 50 times more hours are consummed in tuning.

Did the link not work? It's item number 120109481635.

Yeah, 370cc is pretty big for a 4.5liter and I didn't know how well the 740cc injectors could handle a pulse width so short as would be required by the 4.5L idling. From what I've read on the subject, the computer should have no problem telling the injector to open for such a short period. The problem is how fast the injector can actually respond and function. Maybe a 500+cc injector would be best, if it can idle clean and still provide enough juice up top with 8-10psi boost. I would think it should handle that.

I don't know of one for $88, not an OE one at least. Maybe for an OE remanned injector, but not brand spankin' new. Yeah, I'd rather have an OE than aftermarket new injector too, but replacing all 8 at $170 each is $1360, without shipping. If these aftermarket ones can be had in sets of 8, it'd be right at $500. I'm all for saving $860 if I can... especially considering I bought my last Q for $500.
