Last week I took my car in for its 22,500 mile maintenance. I went in expecting the regular 'replace oil & filter' and 'rotate tires' but the guy told me i needed alignment AND a fuel injector flush in addition.

He wanted to charge me:100 - Regular service90 - Alignment120 - Fuel injector Flush

I went ahead and did the alignment but said no to the fuel injector flush because I've never heard of it. I can't find this in the service and maintenance guide at any mileage. Is it really necessary or are they trying to pull a fast one?

I would stay away from that service advisor...

PS...NOS energy drink is not a fuel injector cleaner...

It's not in the maintenance guide because its not a regular maintenance service. More than likely he was trying to milk you, but did you ask him why he's recommending the flush? Maybe its garbage, or maybe he actually has a good reason, like they checked your fuel filter and it was gunked up (highly unimaginable anywhere near this mileage).

I once ran a Pennzoil Quik Lube. We regularly sold FICs. They do work great, but.......If it's not done properly it could really create problems for you (ie. check engine light could pop on reading multible misfire or it could hydro lock you engine. wich happened to my Neon.) My reccomendation to you would be to steer away from it. They are great money makers for the facility when it only costs them 6 dollars for each service. Yeah, they really

Actually he said this before they took the car. He said the "computer shows you're due for: "

=( I feel like a nub. I probably didn't. He made it sound like it was life or death for the coupe.

I wouldn't feel too bad about it - everyone has to learn somewhere....just be thankful that you only had to shell out $100 for the extra stuff...some people can get caught for $1000's worth of stuff they don't need...
