Took my 2009 M35X (82K) into dealer for transfluid and radiator flush. Dealer tried to sell me on Fuel Injector Cleaning for $125. I passed thinking this is a total ripoff.

Is there any benefit to a fuel injector cleaning? Can I do it myself with aftermarket fuel additives?

Here's what a real fuel injector service consists of.

Ask the dealership if the remove and service the injectors, I'm betting on no. They probably just flush them...which is a friggin rip for $125.

While we're talking about rip offs, did they drop the trans pan and change the filter? Did they use new fluid or filter your old fluid and put it back in? You should definitely find out.

That is a rip off! I used the Chevron Pro-Gard Fuel Injector Cleaner for the entire life of my car (06 M35 Sport with 80k) and it has been great. I use it about every 7k, one exception I did use the BG equivalent this weekend because my buddy had some extra for free. BG is good as well but expensive. Stuff is simple to use...just run tank to near empty poor in and fill up to 16 Gallons, then run that take to near empty. Don't fill up between because you will dilute and reduce the effectiveness.
